Our Ministry

Our family moved to Kiev, Ukraine, on July 18, 2001. The first two years were spent in formal study of the Russian language, during which time we also began to understand and participate in the Ukrainian culture. Currently, we continue to study Russian part-time in an informal setting.

In October 2003, Randy was appointed to serve as the Assistant to the President of Kiev Christian University (KCU). In this position he assisted the president in directing the affairs of the university. Together they worked to develop KCU into an institution that will facilitate the training of students from the countries of the former Soviet Union. Thus far they developed a new curriculum, reorganized and restructured the university, as well as raised its academic standards. Randy also taught two courses at the university.

Once KCU had a qualified Ukrainian team in place and things running smoothly, Randy was able to focus on his purpose for coming to Ukraine, that of pastoral training. This has been his desire since shortly after salvation in the early 1980's. In 1994, Randy made his first trip to Ukraine with a group of pastors; and while on that trip, his passion for this ministry was once again revived. Then in 1996, he was able to go to Russia to train men for two weeks who were preparing to be pastors and missionaries. The following two weeks he spent in Ukraine working alongside of some Ukrainian church planters. This too helped him focus on what God was calling him to do in the future.

To fulfill Randy's purpose, he began an organization called, "Dynamic Church of Eurasia." The purpose of this new ministry will be to help church leadership develop a vision for biblical ministry. To do this Randy is in the process of preparing a manual which he will use for training. Basically it is a practical ecclesiology with an application section for most of the chapters. The first draft of the manual is complete, and he is now in the process of making revisions. His goal is then to have it translated, printed, and then distributed to the 15 countries of the former Soviet Union.

One new aspect of Randy's work will be the training of men who desire to be church planters in Ukraine and cross-cultural missionaries who will work in and outside of Ukraine in other countries. His nine years of pastoral ministry experience has been a great asset in developing this ministry.

In the future, in addition to caring for our family, Annette hopes to be involved in training the wives of the husbands whom Randy will be teaching. Annette's goal is to write a small manual to help these women understand their roles as a pastor, church planter or missionary wife and how to be an effective coworker in the gospel. She continues to teach a weekly English class/Bible lesson at our church with the focus of evangelism. She also has a book ministry to women in which she purchases Christian books that have been translated into Russian to help them grow in their relationship with Christ, their husbands and children. This also enables them to lead Bible studies, and to share these books with others in a lending library type of ministry. Annette has gained much experience through her many years as a Christian, having been involved in various types of ministries, especially in her role as a pastor's wife, and now as a missionary.
