About Us

We grew up in small towns near Madison, Wisconsin. After graduation from Madison Area Technical College in 1978, I (Randy) began working as a Quality Control Technician, and Annette as a legal stenographer. We were married in 1980 and moved to a suburb of Chicago. For the next three years, I was employed by a Chicago firm as a Quality Assurance Engineer, and Annette worked in a law firm in Elgin. It was during this time that we became Christians. A year later, I became a full-time student at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago while Annette took a job at a Chicago law firm.

We have four children. Their names are Elya, Jeremiah, Luke and Tabitha. After the birth of our first child, Annette became a full-time mother. Then after graduating from Moody, I worked at the Chicago Tribune and became very busy ministering in our local church, at Cook County Jail, and to the homeless on the streets of Chicago. Later I became an associate of Bible Related Ministries (1990-2000), an organization which assists local churches in time of need. This ministry involved a lot of traveling and pulpit supply. This was my main ministry until I was called to pastor the Bark River Bible Church in Bark River, Michigan.

From March, 1993 to July, 2001, our family lived in Bark River, located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. While I served as pastor, Annette was very involved in various ministries -- as president of the Women's Missionary Society, as an AWANA Youth Group Leader, the unofficial church secretary, overseer of the tract ministry, and of course as a pastor's wife, in addition to raising our four children. She was also involved in the Parent Teacher Organization at our children's public school and volunteered there as she was able.

In July, 2001, our family moved to Kiev, Ukraine, where we began our work as missionaries. Presently our oldest child Elya is a full-time student at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, studying nutritional sciences. She also works part-time in an assisted living home. Elya lived with us for two years in Kiev and graduated from Kiev Christian Academy (KCA), an American school for missionary children. She then attended Appalachian Bible College in West Virginia where she graduated with an Associate's Degree in Bible. Jeremiah graduated from KCA in June, 2006. He is now in a full-time student at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois. Jeremiah is an economics major. Luke will graduate from KCA in June of 2008 and will attend Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. He will study criminal justice and will be involved in Army ROTC. Tabitha will graduate in 2010 from KCA. She is not sure at this point what she wants to study after high school. They are all doing well in school and adjusted to their life in Ukraine, having arrived here older than most children who come to the mission field. We thank the Lord for His grace and mercy to our family.

In my undergraduate studies at Moody Bible Institute I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Bible in 1986 with a minor in evangelism. Annette earned a Certificate in Adult Bible Studies in 1995 through their correspondence program. In May 1999, I earned a Masters of Arts in Ministry from Moody Bible Institute as well. This program I completed over a three and a half-year period while pastoring by taking modular courses and completing a project/thesis in my church. The title of the project/thesis is, Leadership Training in Doctrine For The Bark River Bible Church.
